R&B recording artist Porcelan is not only a singer and songwriter but she also has an eye for fashion and beauty. She is one of the first to sign with Made in Memphis Entertainment. She is currently #36 on Urban A/C billboard with her single “Real Thing Don’t Change.”
She became a recording artist at the age of sixteen. She has always been surround by music and she comes from a family of musicians, gospel groups and pastors. “It’s just always been a thing…if you come to my family reunions, ok, we are going to get up and do a song and that’s normally how it goes…the kids get up in front of everybody. It’s a generational thing.”
Aside from her family being a major influence in her life, she also looks up to Stevie Wonder, Prince, Whitney Houston. “Prince inspired me to be different and Whitney is captivating in her stage performance.” She also mentioned Beyonce and Rihanna and says “they are my top favorite artist because they do so many thing for young girls to be proud of and something to look up to.” She expressed interest in collaborating with Kendrick Lamar and Drake. “I think they will be complimentary to my sound… you know what you’re going to get when you hear them on the record. You know it’s going to be dope… and they’re going to come with a hit.”
Porcelan has a taste for fashion and beauty. Her favorite go-to beauty products are NARS, ICONIC Illuminator, BECCA highlighter and MAC Bronzer. She uses Nivea moisturizer and says “in order to get a good coverage and a good makeup look, you have to have your skin in tact…your skin has to be taken care of.” “When it comes to lips I use NYX,“she says.
Porcelan is a big fan of June Ambrose. She says” she has an eclectic style…she mixes and matches really well and she all about statement pieces. I love what she does with her look.”
We asked her what is the one piece of clothing she can not live with out and she said “I’m a big fan of my jackets, duster and trench coats! I feel like it’s an accessory. A lot of girls now are wearing it off the shoulder. It’s like an accessory.”
She gets her style and inspiration from Instagram and Pinterest. She feels girls can update their wardrobe without buying all new expensive clothes. “When I’m trying to pair something up, I use my Pinterest,” she says. She can pretty much mix and match anything in her closet. “If you have a jean button down shirt, you can piece it together with a leather skirt…or if you have a nice satin blouse you can throw it together with some jeans.” I.AM.GIA is what she has in her closet. You can find Porcelan shopping at Urban Outfitter and Aldo.
